Being The Best Muslim Role Model

Best Muslim Role Model

A Muslim’s character must be the best in all aspects of life. Being The Best Muslim Role Model, Muslims must strive to attain perfection and greatness by following the commands of Allah (SWT), following the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions. Islam provides clear guidelines of great morals and ethics.

Allah (SWT) says in Al Quran:

لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّـهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّـهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّـهَ كَثِيرًا ﴿٢١

“There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.”

(Quran, 33:21)

Each one of us must evaluate ourselves based on Islamic principles and morals.

As an Individual:

How is my relationship with Allah (SWT), His Book, and the Sunnah? Do I recite Quran and practice its teachings?

Allah (SWT) commands us in Al Quran,

“O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely [and perfectly] and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.”

(Quran, 2:208)

As a Family Member:

How am I towards others at home; How am I with relatives and neighbors? Am I forgiving? How is my temper? Am I generous and spend on my family?

Every Muslim and Muslimah must try their best to follow the Islamic guidelines and as prescribed in the Sunnah.

In Al Quran, Allah (SWT) says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ عَلَيْهَا مَلَائِكَةٌ غِلَاظٌ شِدَادٌ لَّا يَعْصُونَ اللَّـهَ مَا أَمَرَهُمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ ﴿٦

“O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.”

(Quran, 66:6)

As a Neighbor:

Islam enjoins fair treatment for neighbors. Many Ahadith stress the importance of kindness to neighbors.

‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “The best of companions with Allah is the one who is best to his companions, and the best of neighbors to Allah is the one who is the best of them to his neighbor.” (Riyad as-Salihin 311)

Islam says Love of Neighbor It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West, but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer
The Prophet Mohammed stated: “Whoever believes in God and the Final Day should not trouble his neighbors.” As Muslims, it remains an important duty on all our parts to ensure we are vigilant, compassionate, and loving neighbors no matter who may live in ou

As a Parent:

Being a parent is an ultimate blessing of Allah (SWT) and, at the same time, an actual test. Along with physical needs, am I meeting the spiritual needs of my kids? Am I nurturing their soul as I am worried about their body?

Ibn ‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that The Prophet Mohammed (ﷺ) said, “All of you are shepherds, and each of you is responsible for his flock. A man is the shepherd of the people of his house, and he is responsible. A woman is the shepherd of the house of her husband, and she is responsible. Each of you is a shepherd, and each is responsible for his flock.” (Sahih, Al-Albani)

As a Student:

Do I actively seek knowledge? A true Muslim must seek to acquire beneficial knowledge. As a student, it must be known that Allah (SWT) rewards our efforts. Islam places great emphasis on the importance of gaining knowledge.

Allah SWT raises the ranks of those who acquire knowledge.

“…Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.” (Quran 58:11)

As an Employee/ Employer:

How would I describe my work ethic? As an employee or an employer, do I possess the traits of an excellent worker? Am I dedicated, dependable, honest, and sincere?

In Conclusion:

The ultimate goal of a Muslim is earning Jannah. A Muslim’s values, habits, and behaviors that contribute to him or her acquiring Jannah are the most significant. By being the best in all aspects of life, one can achieve true and ultimate happiness in this life and the next.
