The experience does not end there, however. Islam instructs its devotees to add after every recitation of the Quran sincere supplications, or duas. This pious practice holds great spiritual significance and is believed to bring immeasurable blessings and the mercy of Allah.
In this article, we are discussing the many advantages of reading dua after reciting the Quran and how it strengthens a Muslim’s faith and relationship with his or her Creator.
Upon completing the reading of the Quran, recite a dua to Allah. This is where duas are accepted and stand the best chance of being granted, as we have only just completed Allah’s holy words. The dua can be, among others, dua for wisdom, stability, mercy, and blessings for us and the entire ummah.
Dua After Reading the Quran (in English)
“Oh Allah, make us a goodness because of what You have commanded us to do, and guide us to that which will be good for us, and raise us in knowledge.
O Allah, make the Quran the spring of our hearts, the light of our chests, the remover of our pain, and the reliever of our distress. O Allah, give us the power to recite it in a manner goodly with You, and give us the power to act upon its provisions. Make it a proof upon us, not against us. By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.”
What is the Arabic Dua after Prayer?
After the completion of obligatory prayers (salah), it is good to do dhikr and dua. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself used to recite various supplications after completing his prayers. One of the most commonly read supplications in Arabic goes as mentioned below:
Dua After Prayer (in Arabic):
اللهم أنت السلام ومنك السلام تباركت يا ذا الجلال والإكرام
Transliteration:
Allahumma anta as-salaam wa minka as-salaam, tabaarakta yaa dhal-jalaali wal-ikraam.
English Translation:
“Oh Allah, You are peace, and peace comes from You. Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honor.”
This dua is normally recited after finishing the prayer, especially after tasleem (saying “Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah” to the right and left).
